We’re investigating crashes that happen during the launch of the game. Some of them can be connected to Windows and other software being outdated. Below you’ll find a few tips on how to deal with them.
Windows 10
- Check the version of your operating system, you can do it by pressing Win+R and typing in “winver”.
- Crashes might occur on Windows 10 versions below 1909, please update your OS to the most recent version. Instructions on how to do it can be found here.
- Additional troubleshooting is available here.
Note:
Notably the crashes on launch occur on the older Windows 10 versions, e.g. version 1607 (Build 14393) and version 1703 (Build 15063). Cyberpunk 2077 uses DirectX 12 — the most recent version was released at the end of 2017, which is later than Windows 10 versions mentioned before.
Windows 7
- Check the version of your operating system, you can do it by pressing Win+R and typing in “winver”.
- Make sure you use the latest Windows 7 build: 7601.
- Make sure you use the latest graphics drivers available for Windows 7: NVIDIA | AMD.
Note:
Cyberpunk 2077 is a DirectX 12 game — DirectX 12 works on Windows 7 thanks to porting tools and some features may be limited. Keep in mind that official support for Windows 7 from Microsoft ended in January 2020.
